En CULTURE INSIGHTS VOL. 3 exploraremos las maneras en que podemos lidiar con el problema de la accesibilidad al agua potable en México. Junto con Planificadores Urbanos, Arquitectos y Artistas hablaremos sobre cómo nos podemos comprometer de una manera activa en resolver problemas comunales con la profunda intención de reclamar nuestras ciudades.

En México aproximadamente 1,100 millones de litros de agua de lluvia cae cada año, lo que son 340 litros de agua por habitante. No obstante, la mayoría de la población en la ciudad es abastecida de agua por el sistema Lerma-Cutzamala, que resulta insuficiente al suplir las necesidades básicas de agua de la población entera.

Alrededor del 70% de la población de la ciudad tiene menos de 12 horas de disponibilidad de agua al día. En las áreas de mayor escasez, 18% de la población debe esperar por muchos días para suministrarse por una hora o dos.

¿Cómo es posible que en una ciudad con tanta lluvia, colonias inundadas, no haya agua?

In Mexico City approximately 1,100 million liters of rainwater falls every year, which is 340 liters of water per habitant. However, most of the population of this city is supplied with water through the system Lerma Cutzamala, which fails to meet basic water needs of the entire population.

About 70% of the city has less than 12 hours of availability of water per day. In the areas of greatest shortage, 18% of the population must wait several days to have a supply of an hour or two.
