PLATOON KUNSTHALLE invited BACKJUMPS MAGAZINE founder and curator ADRIAN NABI, and artists AKIM, BRAD DOWNEY and THE WA to seoul. it was a fun week, with adventure tours through the urban jungle of seoul, a presentation night and a workshop (followed by a wild night in hongdae @.@).
shifting the perception of the city was the common ground for all workshops but in the end each of them had a very special flavour (especially akim's... haha) ^^;;

for a starter, each participant drew a rough of seoul with everything a true map needs: the river, important food locations and architectural landmarks.

AKIM's workshop was all about adding a layer of mapping a city: by looking for spots with edible stuff, like fruits and berries.

THE WA had a slightly different approach. on his tours through the city he appropriated patterned spots and transformed them into game areas.

BRAD DOWNEY on the other hand introduced his concept of what he calls 'spontaneous sculptures'. this image of a 'sculpture' was taken while playing a game in the main hall, during which participants had to pick up random (and impossible) items like an ashtray, an egg, a ladder, a piece of styrofoam, and a lot more useless shit he found in our storage room.

it was good to have you here, thanks to all participants and of course to adrian nabi for planning the trip with us!!!
