MILAN · as part of Public Design Festival and Salone del Mobile, Milan MakerLab 2011 created the space for creation: the Milanese maker community hacked up old furniture and locally found material to collectively rebuild their ideas and public spaces.


the theme was to dive deeper into the sense of production of objects and challenge creative ownership. judging from the mess: challenge accepted.


utilising tools, resources and expertise from Berlin (and locally sourced gelato from milan) the Milanese maker community spent a week sharing skills, attending public mobile workshops together and engaging makers and creative activists to reshape their own urban environment.


the open design event saw many faces take part in expanding the innovative knowledge and evolving structure that is making. a successful examination into channels of collective construction and sharing the urban environment. mission: accomplished
